Identity

The Byzantinist Society of Cyprus (BSC) was established as a non-profit scientific organization in March 2013. The objectives of BSC is to support and promote research, teaching and dissemination of knowledge of Byzantine culture (4th-16th century) in all the specialist fields of Byzantine and Medieval Studies in Cyprus and abroad.

The Society’s members include academics, researchers, practitioners and graduate students in the fields of literature, history, theology, archeology, art history, architecture and other disciplines.

The Byzantinist Society of Cyprus aims through its activity and, indeed, through the organization of various events, to contribute to the intellectual progress and cultural development of Cyprus, cultivating a healthy and fertile interest in the Byzantine and medieval past of our country. It also aims to place Cyprus dynamically on the international map of Byzantine and Medieval Studies.
